Walker Awning was born from a simple belief: awnings should be built to last, not just to look good. When Pete Walker started the company in 1980, he saw too many awnings failing during South Florida’s brutal storms—due to preventable shortcuts in design and construction, use of the wrong materials like thin walled framing, and weak foundation and structural attachment.

Over four decades later, we’ve perfected the art of building awnings that withstand hurricane-force winds, relentless sun, and salt air. Every project is custom-engineered by our licensed architect, fabricated in our 22,000-square-foot Fort Lauderdale facility, and installed by our experienced team.

We don’t upcharge for critical anchors, connections, welds, or fasteners. We don’t cut corners. We build awnings the way they should be built—strong enough to protect what matters most.

We believe in giving our customers detailed and earnest advice and guidance. We are engineers and builders, specializing in outdoor shade structures, but we are well versed in all aspects of design and construction. We’ve modified out best practices over the years in response to what works in our challenging climate.

There isn't always a perfect or easy solution, and the materials we work with have limitations, but we will do our best to think outside of the box and properly advise our clients on realistic outcomes of their proposed projects.

Our work is exceptional because our people are exceptional. Our lead installers have an average of over 30 years in the business. We use tried and true materials and methods in our fabrication shops which are overseen by veterans of the industry, most of whom have been at Walker Awning for over 20 years.
